Russell, has been involved in Theater since 1978 when he was asked by his high school Music teacher to fill in for a cast member of the show "Our Town" who had to drop out at the last minute.
From the moment Russell stepped on the stage as "Constable Warren", he knew he was "at home" in the world of Theater—both on stage and off.
It was during the summer of the same year (1978) that Russell joined the Quogue Junior Theater Troupe, Inc (of Quogue, Long Island, New York) first as a technical assistant, then over the years working his way to becoming their Technical Director, until his retirement in 2018 and then move to Cleveland (2021).
Over the years since 1978, Russell had a few “stopovers” into the world of acting (both at Quogue Junior Theater Troupe and in various community and regional theaters on Long Island, New York) playing roles in musicals (“Guys and Dolls”, “Kiss Me Kate”, “Wonderful Town”), as well as plays (“Our Town”, “Harvey”, “Lost in Yonkers”).
Although Russell enjoyed acting on stage, it was actually the “lure of the behind the scenes” that ultimately became Russell’s passion. In addition to the almost 40 years of being a Technical Director, Russell directed over 36 plays and musicals of various genres and styles as the main director/producer of those productions.
OSR Productions LLC was born out of the need for Russell to have a theatrical (and film) production company that reflected his "old school" nature and his commonly used expression, "a lot of times the 'old school' is the best school". The "OSR" stands for "Old School Russell".
OSR Productions LLC completed a successful recent production of the musical "Infamous-the Musical" in Lakewood, Ohio in February 2024.
We are now looking forward to our next venture.
